Motorcycle Equipment: Safety: RAYLIER

"A visible leather but not too showy", remains the most catchy quote of the brand. Or the elephant as a totem animal to "take up space in the shelf and be clearly visible". Raylier is a very young and innovative company in motorcycle equipment.
After having reviewed the various products that I find really smart, almost necessary for motorcyclists, I discovered this leather jacket that has a vintage cut but reminds us of the film TRON (the re-adaptation of the years 2010) and its futuristic aspect.
With the support of one of the most popular motorcyclists Youtuber in France from the first days: Chris-RS (Santa Claus Vigilante), this brand was quickly appreciated in the motorcyclists' world.
The founders Baptiste Rosay and Thibaut Bannelier have developed their brand thanks to the enthusiasm of motorcyclists looking for safety on the road. The fund-raising for the creation of the brand quickly achieved its goal as well as their successful quest for Ambassadors! Passionate motorcyclists, ambassadors of the brand to first and foremost secure future riders on the road.
Motorcyclists showed a particular enthusiasm for the innovation offered by the brand, "87 contributors have committed €21,278 to support this project."
Raylier is all about creating equipment for motorcyclists' safety: "As motorcyclists, we are confronted with danger on a daily basis. Among our concerns, the difficulty of living with other road users, mainly because of the lack of visibility related to the shape and size of our motorcycles."
This company is good to be sustainable. They found the right time to finally bring about the change on the motorcycle equipment. The luminous side, jackets in the dark allow drivers to see motorcyclists more easily.
From the jacket's technological point of view, an accelerometer makes it possible to detect braking to enable better communication with the driver. The front lights are white while the rear lights are logically red with an intensity adjusted according to the brake. The various options such as stop, warnings are also included.
The bike's simple headlight is now completed by 12 LEDs integrated into the leather using a stop light reminder, a warning mode and all this for an 8-hour range! The advantage of this jacket is its visibility. The power of the LEDs makes it useful even in broad daylight.
This leather is available for men as well as for women for a cost that I find does not exceed the prices of the major brands of jackets. In the following diagram we have the average price of jackets, I searched in the most popular brands: Bering, Alpinestars, Dainese and others in a leather jacket style, with a vintage cut for some such as Belstaff and Helstons brands. Following this research I found a fairly interesting range of prices, Raylier is a little above the most popular brands such as Dainese. However, in the jackets below none of them have any system similar to Raylier, they are leather jackets without a prevention system: LED

(CF: notice that this is not a complete and approximate research with the following criteria: leather jackets, in black and brown colours, for men and women, vintage for the most part, except for a few, links below. Furthermore, the prices used are those without discounts).
Hence for 630 euros (same price for colours, sexes) it is surprisingly low for a young brand on this market. The diverse prices of the brands make the jacket somewhat more profitable for the price: a leather + protections (all CE2 and in addition made of Viscoelastic, it is a fabric that I would say "reactive", flexible for daily comfort, but strong in case of impact.) + LED for 630 euros or a simple leather + protections (often CE1 for the elbows and shoulders and CE2 for the back) for 529.95 euros from Dainese (for example) what would you choose? Of course this choice is personal, the price of a leather is according to everyone's budget, but it remains interesting on the Quality-Price: a 100% French brand, an innovative safety system, real leather, certified protection, etc.
/ My Review /
I really like simple jackets, in other words with a slight vintage cut and leather, after all my leather is totally black, old and all I miss are LED's.
However, this leather is a real innovation in the equipment market. Motorcycle bloggers are their first communication platform, they are fond of this product, they promote it: Moto Geek, Le Motariste, Chris RS... Motorcyclists see in this product something that can make them more visible and therefore less vulnerable to car users. The car driver's eyes will be more focused on a light near them.
I found this product innovative, with a vintage identity reminiscent of the old leather of the 80s and 90s that many hooligans wore. Guy Gilbert will probably be all over it to wear it during the midnight church service, who knows?
The company is young, but is very dynamic and is now surrounded by many ambassadors all over France. Their closeness to networks as well as to motorcycle Youtuber such as Chris-RS will allow the brand to constantly evolve. Today, it is developing its market towards Canada. Which will probably result in an expansion into North America.
